It’s another snow day in Southborough and Northborough. Superintendent Charles Gobron made the call early this morning to close schools due to the weather.
By my (unofficial) count, today marks the sixth snow day this year. When putting together the calendar, the district builds in only five snow days for the school year, so it looks like kids are going to be in school a bit later than planned come June.
Why doesn’t Northborough/Southborough announce their closings on Fox25? I know there are many of us who watch that station in the morning and they do not show up on the Fox25 closing/delayed list.
Just curious.
Hmm. That’s the channel I watch, and I’ve seen it on the crawl many times. This morning, we got the call shortly after 5:30 a.m., so I wasn’t looking for it..
Wed June 26th is now the final day!
Back when I was little 3 inches of snow wouldn’t cancel school. Things sure have changed!
I never know how to respond to this comment…driving didn’t feel particularly safe to me this morning, and I’m happy my kids weren’t in a long bus with questionable road handling and tire quality–and no seat belts–cruising down unplowed roads. Absolutely the right decision in my book.
Easy to throw stones, but better safe than sorry. Our buses do have seatbelts but the kids do not use them. They were predicting more snow and ice than we got. I am betting if the tables turned and we got what they predicted, all the parents would have been happy there was a cancellation. I think the Superintendent makes the best call he can possibly make. I don’t think he sits there and purposely tries to inconvenience parents. The weather is a hard thing, heck the weather people can’t even get it right!
