Monday’s parade (details in an upcoming post) isn’t Southborough’s only Memorial Day tradition. Another is placing American flags on the graves of every Southborough veteran in tribute to their service to the country.
VFW Post 3276 and American Legion Post 161 will lead the flag-placing on Friday, May 24 starting at 6:00 pm in the Rural Cemetery on Cordaville Road. All Southborough residents are invited to join them. The group will meet in front of the Maintenance Building at the back of the cemetery.
The work goes quickly, and VFW Commander Steve Whynot says he hopes to have all 800 flags replaced by 7:30 pm.
