Is it my imagination, or is The Wizard of Oz experiencing a renaissance? It seems like it’s everywhere I’ve turned this spring. Now Sudbury’s Metrowest Family Theater is putting on another production. This one stars Southborough teen, Lexi Ryan, as Dorothy.
I just brought my kids to see Southborough friends as munchkins at the Skyrise Children’s Theater in May. They loved it so much more than watching it on tv. So if you haven’t been to a recent production, (or even if you have), you may want to head to Watertown this week.
Performances are June 20th & 21st at 7:30pm and June 22nd at 2:00pm.
The production features a talented cast of over 45 singers, dancers, and actors. A host of enthusiastic children portray the lovable munchkins, with teens and adults filling in the leading, supporting, and ensemble roles.
The Wizard of Oz” is MFT’s 20th musical production and is directed by Samantha Bower, with a vision that honors the award-winning movie while keeping the story and characters fresh and unique.
Performances will be held at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street in Watertown. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $24 for premium seating. Tickets can be purchased at the box office (The Performing Arts Connection, 31 Union Avenue in Sudbury), by phone 508-450-7847 or online. For more information, visit www.mftsudbury.org.
