Two programs are coming up for students to learn more about robotics. Both list this Friday, November 1st, as their registration deadline.
Trottier Robotics 101
This RAP program for Trottier students offers five 90 minute classes using Legos, motors, sensors and software. This is a hands on engineering class. Students will learn how to design and program robots that can perform all kinds of tasks.
Classes are oriented for both newbies who want to learn building and programming and and previous students looking to build their skills.
You can register online through the Southborough Recreation Department’s website by November 1st.
Build Your Own Robot workshop for 3rd – 6th graders
The Algonquin Regional High School Robotics Team is hosting its 2nd annual Build Your Own Robot workshop. Kids will work with the members and mentors of the high school team to build and test a robot.
The workshop is December 7, 2013, 1:00 – 4:00 pm in the ARHS Robotics Rooms. It is open to students in grades 3 through 6. Registration is limited and payment is due by November 1, 2013.
With assistance from the ARHS Robotics team, students will also:
- Learn some basics about mechanics, wiring and gear ratios by building their own mechanical racehorses or beetles to take home.
- Test and build their creations
- See the labs where the high school team builds its FIRST competition robots
- Drive some of the team’s smaller VEX robots
