With so much going on this holiday season, I’ve forgotten to share this one with you sooner.
In the past you’ve been warned about fraudulent fundraisers for the Southborough Fire Department. So it’s no surprise that some residents are skeptical about calls they’ve received recently.
The Southborough Permanent Firefighters IAFF Local 3129 is currently raising funds.
Phone calls are being placed by a professional fundraising organization, so only a portion of the proceeds will go to their funds. (Southborough Firefighters don’t have the bandwidth to telemarket for themselves. So, that is the tradeoff.)
Proceeds from funds raised are used for town scholarships and activities like the annual Halloween parade. The fund is also used to help firefighters and their families in crisis, such as injuries and serious illnesses.
Those who make a donation will receive a thank you gift – tickets for up to 4 to attend an adult comedy night. The show will take place Friday, January 17, at 7:30 pm at the Doubletree Hotel Ballroom, 5400 Computer Drive, Westborough. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Of course, a donation through fundraisers isn’t the only way to help the association this month. You can also buy a Christmas Tree at the station. (See earlier post for details.)
