Best Buddies Algonquin, a student-run organization that creates friendships for students with intellectual disabilities, needs to fundraise money each year to send their student leaders to a national Best Buddies leadership conference. This year a Westborough dance studio, Rhythm Dance Company, wanted to help. . .
Rhythm Dance Company showcases their dancers with solo, duo, and trio routines at an event titled “Evening of Dance” every year. The performance draws families, friends, neighbors and dance enthusiasts to come watch the dancers on a local stage to kick-start their competition season. The dancers get a chance to perform and ticket sales have always been used to give a donation to a worthy cause. . .
The event had over 250 people in attendance with 50 acts performing on stage. Every dancer performed beautifully, but the best routine was the final act when dancers in the audience and Best Buddies chapter members joined in a group dance on stage. The Best Buddies chapter also held a raffle and the chapter members got on stage to announce the winners. Thanks to the efforts of the Rhythm Dance Company and Best Buddies communities, ticket sales raised $2,000 for the high school organization. . .
