At Tuesday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting, the contract for new Southborough Police Chief Kenneth Paulhus was approved.

At the meeting, Town Administrator Mark Purple issued a public thank you to the outgoing interim Chief Jeffrey Roy.

Purple said that Roy gave the town “exactly what we needed and more than I was looking for”. Purple said that thanks to Roy’s work, “the transition from Chief Moran to Chief Paulhus is going to be a smooth one.”

Selectman John Rooney asked Purple to follow up on Roy’s offer to write a report. Rooney thought that would be helpful for the new chief.

The board voted to officially appoint Kenneth Paulhus the new chief, effective Wednesday, February 12, 2014.

According to The Metrowest Daily News, the approved contract will pay $115,000 the first year, $5,000 less than former Chief Jane Moran made in her final year of office. The signed contract is for 3 years with annual salary reviews.
