Pilgrim Congregational Church is collecting supply contributions to help Haiti.
In the past, you may have heard about contributions to 3rd world countries never reaching those in need. No need to worry about that here.
These supplies will be delivered along with three missionaries from the church. The church is repeating its successful mission from last year.
Minister Julie Cedrone will be working with Nurse Sharon Balcom on a medical mission team to set up clinics in schools, orphanages, and churches in Port au Prince and mountain villages.
Cedrone wrote:
Most of the people we saw last year had never seen a doctor or nurse before (ever!) and were eager to address a myriad of concerns for themselves and their children. . .
They will be accompanied by congregation member Brian Dean, who will be working on a construction team that will build a chicken coop for an orphanage. Their goal is to help train the children to raise chickens for the eggs, meat, and source of income.
The volunteers are collecting supplies to bring on the trip. Needed items include:
- aspirin
- vitamins (adult, prenatal, and/or children’s)
- medical supplies
- wipes
- school supplies
- elementary school books
- teacher curriculum
- old magazines (especially National Geographic, for the students learning English)
If you have a contribution to make, you can leave it in the collection box in the side entrance of Pilgrim Church. The group leaves for their mission at the end of this month.
