Southborough resident Lara Joyce is a Project Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity. She is reaching out to other women in town to recruit volunteers for Women Build:
Habitat is hosting a great event called Women Build from May 3-10. Women Build encourages women to get on the build site (which is typically male dominated), learn construction, volunteer and raise funds/awareness for the housing crisis facing women and children around the world – no experience is necessary to participate!
Each Women Build day has two shifts, 9am-1pm and 12pm-4pm, lunch included for both groups. To participate in the event, we ask for a minimum donation of $100, which goes into materials we use for the day and also Habitat’s ability to continue to build Habitat homes in our community. Signs and more information can be found on our Women Build webpage.
We are excited to have Women Build in Wayland and Worcester this year and our goal is to engage 150 local women in volunteering with us at the event.
Sounds like a good way to get in shape this spring while helping out others!
