Algonquin Regional High School is hosting a Relay for Life event this Friday through Saturday.
The overnight fundraiser is in support of the American Cancer Society. The goal is to raise $40,000 for cancer research, diagnoses, and treatments.
The schedule combines fun times with meaningful moments to motivate in the fight against cancer. Starting at 6:00 pm on Friday, May 9th, teams will relay walk for 12 hours, led by cancer survivors from the community. During their non-walking hours, team members can participate in many other activities.
Registration is $10. To stay the night, participants must either raise $100 or send out 10 fundraising emails from the event website. Participants who raise $100 will also get an event t-shirt.
Each registered team gets their own campsite at the event that where they can set up tents. (Tent setup can begin at 4:00 pm. No stakes are allowed in the ground, so bring items to weigh it down.)
Fun includes:
- Glow in the dark sports
- Dodge ball
- Tug of war
- Donut eating contest
Inspirational activities planned:
- Three ceremonies through the event to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back
- A cancer survivor dinner will be held at 7:30 pm.
No animals, alcohol, or tobacco are allowed on site.
