Superintendent Charles Gobron shared some news on the search for a new Neary principal.
This winter, current principal Linda Murdoch announced she will retire this June.
Today, Gobron informed parents a finalist has been selected – Kathleen Valenti, principal of Middleborough’s Mary K. Goode Elementary School .
Parents will be given an opportunity to meet Valenti this Monday afternoon. The community is invited to Neary Library from 4:30-5:30 pm.
I am pleased to announce that Ms. Kathleen Valenti is a finalist for the position of principal at the Margaret A. Neary School. Ms. Valenti currently serves as the principal of the Mary K. Goode Elementary School in Middleborough, Massachusetts.
The Neary School Principal Screening Committee, a comprehensive group made up of parent, teacher, school committee, and community representatives, was formed to review resumes and interview candidates. Members of this committee were particularly impressed with Ms. Valenti’s strong commitment to collaboration, her ability to articulate a vision of educational excellence for Neary School, her proven technology skills as evidenced by the school’s web page and her personal blog, and her ease at using student data to design instructional strategies and improve student learning.
Ms. Valenti will be visiting Neary School on Monday, May 19th. Southborough parents and community members will have an opportunity to meet with her in the Neary library from 4:30-5:30 on Monday afternoon. If Ms. Valenti is appointed to the position of Neary School principal, there will be other formal and informal opportunities for parents and community members to meet her before school begins in late August.
