Motorcycle crash: New details, victim yet to be identified

Police have issued a statement on last night’s motorcycle crash. Although it includes more details, the victim has yet to be identified:

On May 15, 2014, at 7:09 p.m., the Southborough Police were dispatched to Turnpike Road,  just east of the Route 85 North overpass, for a report of a serious motorcycle crash involving injury.  Upon arrival, a male operator was located off to the side of the right travel lane with serious injuries from striking the guardrail.  Witness statements indicate the operator left the roadway after making a lane change.  A 2008 Suzuki motorcycle was located a distance ahead of the operator. The male was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Southborough Fire and Rescue personnel.  The section of Turnpike Road from White Bagley Road west was shut down while the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team processed the scene.  The crash remains under investigation.  The identity of the operator is being withheld pending formal identification at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Such a terrible tragedy. Condolences to the family and prayers for the first responders. I am sure this was an emotional experience for them.

I agree, NVargas. And I doubt it’s even the same motorcycle, but a couple of times over the past month I’ve been passed by an incredibly fast speeding motorcycle on Rte 9, heading West, around rush hour. Dangerous weaving, flying by cars in between lanes, etc. I tried to catch license plate but couldn’t. Odds are it’s got nothing to do with this tragic accident, but be aware of motorcycle traffic…

Terrible tragedy indeed. I was driving back home that very night, Rt. 9 westbound, from a dinner celebration for my niece’s birthday and we got caught up in the traffic jam, wondering what was going on. Once we got to where the traffic was being detoured and saw all of the blue and white lights flashing, I had a feeling something terrible had happened. My niece turned 26 that day, same age as this poor kid. My condolences to the family…just so sad.
