Janet (Rounding ) Gorham, 84, of Westborough and formerly a long time resident of Southborough, died peacefully after a long illness on Monday, August 11, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Benjamin K. Gorham who passed away in 1984.
Born in West Roxbury, she was the youngest child of the late James R. and Dorothy (Campbell) Rounding.
Janet was a 1946 graduate of Newton High School and attended secretarial school. She devoted her life to her husband and children. They spent many happy summers on Cape Cod and were active members of the Stone Horse Yacht Club in Harwich Port. She enjoyed playing bridge, socializing with her friends, caring for her yard, knitting and was a member of Southborough Garden Club, Friends of the Southborough Library and various other organizations her children participated in. She was also a volunteer at the Westborough Food bank for many years. Janet will be remembered as a talented knitter and her humor as she could always keep people laughing.
She is survived by her children, Susan Chorey and her husband Jon of Southborough; Nancy Morris and her husband Stephen of Southborough; Debbie Kasper and her husband Karl of Bozeman, MT; Doug Gorham and his wife Linda of Hopkinton; Joan Gorham and her husband Tom Walbom of Park City, UT; her sister, Ruth Hanson of Boulder, CO; 12 grandchildren, Sayra Chorey, Nathan Chorey and his wife Lauren, Tim Chorey and his wife Pandi; Chuck Morris and his wife Sophia, Sean Morris; Niel, Ben and Kelley Kasper; Jenna and Ashley Gorham; Savannah and Madison Walbom and 6 great-grandchildren, Spencer and Charlotte Tim; J.P. and Colton Chorey; Kyla Morris and Annika Chorey, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings, James R. Rounding, Dorothy Hansen, Wesley and Robert Rounding.
At Janet’s request, there will be no visiting hours.
A Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 10AM at Pilgrim Church, Common St., Southborough. Burial will be private in the South Harwich Cemetery with her husband.
