Next week, seniors in town can enjoy music from bygone eras at the Southborough Senior Center.
Musician David Polansky will use keyboard, trumpet and his voice to “bring alive” the music of:
George M Cohan, Irving Berlin, Fats Waller, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, and a host of others: musical hits from the Gay 90s, World War I, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, World War II, Big Band, Swing Eras, Broadway and the Wild West.
Promotional materials boast that people love Polansky’s Louis Armstrong impression. From viewing the video on his website, I can see why. (Click here to see his highlights. That performance is about 50 seconds into the video.)
Polansky promises to engage the audience, take questions, perform requests, and tell anecdotes about famous musicians and some personal revelations from his own life as a musician.
The September 24th performance will follow a lunch served at 12:45 pm. The suggested donation for the lunch and show are $6 for Friends of Council of the Aging members, and $10 for nonmembers.
To register, call the Senior Center at 508-229-4453 or stop by their front desk.
