Seventeen year old singer, songwriter and guitar player Jessie Chris, of Southborough, will  perform on Heritage Day*.

The up and coming Nashville recording artist has been making headway this year by travelling the country on two “Stand up to Bullying Tours” and a debut of a new album, “Wildfire.”

Songwriting has been a huge part of Chris’ life saying, “It’s my way of coping with different situations and experiences in life. I’m really proud that I’ve just finished my first full-length album. I recorded it in Nashville at Darkhorse, where Taylor Swift, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and many other inspiring artists have recorded.”

Chris hit the road earlier this month on the “All Star Nation Tour,” travelling to 100 schools in 30 districts in Texas.

The peer-to-peer anti-bullying music tour connects with middle and high school students. In between performances artists share their experiences and offer bullying prevention tips.

“Joining the Allstar Nation Tour gives me a platform to share important messages about treating each other with respect,” said Chris.  “I want to share my own struggles with bullying, teach kids, and be someone who is there for them. I want them to realize that they are not alone.” (Read more)

Friend Cynthia Conigliaro said, “children in the schools have been so receptive. . . she is spreading an amazing message about bullying prevention in schools and is performing in front of many students.”

She’s opened up for country stars such as Chris Young , Ayla Brown, and stars from “The X factor” and “American Idol.”

Balancing school and her dream of becoming a country music star has its struggles.

Chris said, “having to travel back and forth to Nashville a lot is challenging. My heart’s in Nashville but Massachusetts is where my family and my friends are so I’m often torn between the two.”
