I remember years ago being confused.
(OK, so I’m often confused. But I’m talking about a specific confusion.)
What is the preschool at Finn? Who is it for? Why is it in the public school?
I’ve since learned that the school provides special education programming for 3-5 year olds who need it. To improve their education, they integrate “typically developing” children from the community to serve as “peer role models”.
If you think your child may benefit from this education, you can schedule a screening to see if your child qualifies as a peer.
The district has announced its upcoming screening for the next school year will take place on January 30, 2014.
On Monday, the office will begin scheduling appointments. The deadline is January 16th. More details are in the announcement below:
Integrated Preschool Screening Notice for Fall 2014 Admission
The Northborough/Southborough Public Schools’ Integrated Preschool Program is inviting neighborhood children who will be three years old by June 15, 2015 for a screening for possible enrollment. Our program brings together neighborhood children and children with special needs. The screenings will take place on January 30, 2015 at the Finn School (for Southborough residents). An appointment is required.
