Another organization is ranking high schools. This ranking is done by Niche. The website boasts unique insight into schools to help students and families “compare educational outcomes across schools and districts.”
In their recent ranking of Massachusetts public high schools, they placed Algonquin 23rd best out of 321, and 3 out of 36 for the “Worcester Area”.
Of course, I always take the rankings with a grain of salt. Each organization claims to have the ultimate methodology. Niche’s explanation for theirs is complex, including statistics, reports, reviews and surveys. (Click here for details.)
Still, I know that many of you like to see how we compare with the neighbors.
Some will be miffed that Hopkinton outranked us again. But other bordering towns came in lower.
For the state:
12. Hopkinton
23. Algonquin
28. Westborough
49. Ashland
99. Framingham
116. Marlborough High School
218. Assabet Valley
The ranking also included charter schools. So, while our neighbor to the north didn’t fare well, their charter school did. AMSA (Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School) in Marlborough ranked fourth place for the state.
I am not miffed at Hopkinton, they do a good job with their school system.
I never meant anyone would be mad to Hopkinton. I meant that some residents will be upset at our district, for not doing as well as Hopkinton.
We’re looking for Algonquin graduates from the years 1964 through 1967 who might be interested in joining one of our annual Luncheon Get-Togethers.
