Over the weekend, the town held its annual Memorial Day Services. Below are some shared images from the events.
On Friday night, volunteers replaced flags at the rural cemetery. Selectman Dan Kolenda shared:
There was a wonderful group of veterans, scouts and citizens participating. Steve Whynot and John Wilson not only did a wonderful job in organizing, but educated everyone on Southborough’s Medal of Honor recipient, Corporal Osgood Hadley
You can find out more about the civil war soldier in an old My Southborough post and this geneology website.
Meanwhile, members of the Algonquin and Northborough community remembered the much more recent service of alumnus Specialist Brian Arsenault.
Most of you will recognize the name of the young Northborough soldier who was killed in action in Afghanistan last September. Here’s one example of a tweet honoring his sacrifice:
Today we remember T-Hawk and hero Spc Brian K. Arsenault, who bravely lost his life for our country in 2014 pic.twitter.com/ptCuhkTBpS
