August 1 is Chestnut Hill Farm’s third monthly Meet the Farmer event. This Saturday’s 10:00 am – 3:00 pm is packed with activities for all ages.
Fun includes milking goats, kids crafts, a reestablished walking trail, and getting up close with beekeeping.
The event overlaps the farm’s recently launched farm stand hours (Saturdays 9:00 am – nooon). So you can also grab some fresh produce while you’re there.
It’s also an opportunity to ask about the 1/2 season CSA share program to be offered later in August.
Here’s the event schedule
- 10:00 – Learn to Milk a Goat
- 10:30 – kids craft– Beehive print project
- 11:00 – Overlook Trail walk – we would like to walk with you on the new trail here on the farm (or rather, a reinvigoration of a trail that was once very popular and has somehow slid off the map). Great view of the farm!
- 11:30 – Kids craft -Beehive print project*
- Noon – Learn to Milk a Goat
- 12:30-2:00 – Honey bees! Learn all about our amazing pollinator friends from our beekeeper, Scott Navaroli. We will get up close and personal with the honey bees- even check them out under a magnifying glass to 40x! Taste some honey, learn how the bees make it and how they inhabit the special hives/homes we make for them.
- 1:00 – Kids craft – beehive print project*
*The craft may be ongoing throughout the 12:30-2:00 talk to keep little ones interested while adults and older kids learn about honey bees.
Can you please let us know what the street address of the Chestnut Hill farm? will make it easier to reach there.
It’s on Chestnut Hill Road (off of Route 30). You can get more details here.
