Last month, the Planning Board continued a hearing on permits for adding a turf playing area at Fay School’s athletic field. The project was submitted in collaboration with Southborough Youth Soccer.
The board decided to review the original permit requests from 2008. Neighbors, objecting to field hours and use by an adult male league, disagreed with the applicant about the permit’s restrictions.
On the Town Planner’s blog, Jennifer Burney shared that the permit was approved and now subject to a 20 day appeal period. She points residents interested in more information to the Planning Board’s dedicated web page.
According to Southborough Wicked Local, the Planning Board sided with Fay and SYS on continuing the morning hours and allowing use by an adult league.
Here are some highlights from their report:
The Planning Board is allowing a new artificial turf field to be build off Mill Street near Marlborough, but did not heed neighbor concerns over start times and to eliminate adult leagues. . .
The board decided to keep the hours the same, after several neighbors asked the board that the field open later on the weekends.
Chairman Don Morris at the meeting Monday night said he believes the hours should be in line with other fields in town because of a shared agreement where the town uses the school’s fields and the school uses the town’s fields. He said he is sympathetic with the the field’s neighbors over traffic and noise because he lives near the Trottier Middle School fields.
