Northborough’s big annual community event is Applefest. This year, it takes place Friday, September 18 – Sunday, September 20. (Scroll down for their list of official events.)
I don’t cover festivals in most communities outside our town. But our high school’s strong ties to Applefest make this festival an exception.
One example of those ties is ARHS’ 4th annual hosting of the New England Harmony Brigade.
The a capella concert includes the 100 man Harmony Brigade Chorus and Algonquin choral groups. This year it also features award winning quartets Downtown Crossing and Taken 4 Granite.
It’s not an official Applefest event, but is timed to coincide with festivities. The concert will take place at Algonquin at 6:00 pm on Friday.
You can pre-purchase tickets by clicking here. Tickets are $15 (or free for students 18 and under).
Other Algonquin ties are seen through special fundraising events, some of which support the school or scholarships.
School organizations also frequently make use of booths at the street fair to raise funds. (Like T-Hawk cheerleaders to the right, captured on Facebook at last year’s event.)
