Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week. (For more, check the Event Calendar.)
Most of the week’s events focus are holiday celebrations and sales. The few exceptions are Legos at the Library, a Southborough author’s book signing, a Parents’ afternoon out (to let you take advantage of sales), and a high school musical.

- Legos at the Library (3:45 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Public Library: Children are welcome to come build with Legos, and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided, but all materials need to remain at the library. Parents or caregivers must stay with children during this event.

Girl Scout Holiday Sing-a-long (7:00 – 7:45 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Event for all families in town with Girl Scouts. Bring your singing voices and an unwrapped toy or gift to donate for a child aged infant to teen (encouraged but not required for attendance)! Sponsored by the Southborough Fire Department. - Westborough Community Chorus: Holiday Joy (8:00 pm) @ Mill Pond School, 6 Old Hickory Path, Westborough: The chorus includes several Southborough residents. This is their annual holiday show, complete with visit from Santa. $12, Seniors/kids $9.

- Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Woodward School, cafeteria: Cub Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping for family members without parents’ prying eyes. See dedicated post for more details.
- Christmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main St: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s annual Christmas Bazaar Admission is free. Proceeds support our Youth Group Mission Trip and the Southborough Food Pantry Fuel Assistance Program. See dedicated post for more details.
- Chestnut Hill Art and Gift Sale (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ 10 Chestnut Hill Road: Shop for holiday gifts, meet local artists and artisans, and enjoy some Holiday cheer! Raffle to benefit The Recovery High School in Worcester, MA. Admission is free. See dedicated post for more details.
- Christmas Tree Decorating Party (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Be a part of the Library’s annual Christmas Tree Decorating Party. You can make ornaments, decorate the Library Christmas tree, and enjoy refreshments!
- Friends of the Library Holiday Book & Bag Sale (10:30 am – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Southborough Library. Selling book and tote bags.
- Library’s Holiday Festivities (10:30 am – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: The annual holiday open house. Enjoy refreshments, holiday music and watching families trim the Library Christmas tree. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.
- Santa Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Community House: Weather permitting, Santa flies into Southborough on helicopter. At noon, he lands on the field at the corner of Rte 85 and Rte 30. Afterwards, he crosses over to the Southborough Community House for Southborough Kindergroup’s annual event. Entrance to the Community House is $5 per child or $10 per family and includes a photo. - Parents’ Afternoon Out (12:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Algonquin Cafeteria: Drop off your children (ages 3+) for an afternoon of games, crafts & fun led by responsible, energetic high school students while you do your holiday shopping! (Algonquin teachers will be present.) Suggested Donation: $20/child or $30/family Sponsored by the Class of 2017. To reserve a spot, please email Ms. Burns at bburns@nsboroschools.net. - Book Signing (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Tatnuck Bookseller, Westborough: Southborough author Kirk Westphal will be signing copies of his book No Ordinary Game about great moments in sports that happen to everyday people (including several stories about incredible kids right here in Southborough). He will also be donating all of his royalties to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, which is partnering with him to help promote the book and its inspirational stories. - Handel’s Messiah (3:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common Street: The Messiah Community Chorus concert. A portion of funds raised will be used to support the Southborough Food Pantry. Tickets are available at the door, but they are encourging advance purchase due to sold out to capacity in the past. You can buy them from Deb Herrick in the Pilgrim Church Office (15 Common Street, Mon-Thurs 10am – 3pm.) For event details, see flyer.
