Pull nomination papers for Town office – 12 seats up for grabs (Updated)

With all of the hooplah around upcoming primaries, I forgot about Town political races. But then a little birdy tweeted a reminder.

If you are considering running for office in Southborough, the process has already begun. Nomination papers are available through noon on Friday, March 18.

To run for office, you need to return forms by the following Monday, March 21, signed by 44 registered voters.

A dozen seats are up for grabs this year:

For those of you wondering – here is whose terms are expiring on major Town boards:

  • Board of Selectmen – John Rooney (chair) and Bonnie Phaneuf
  • Planning Board – Kathleen Bartolini
  • Regional School Committee – Joan Frank and Dan Kolenda
  • Southborough School Committee – Roger Challen

(I don’t know yet which are running for re-election. Stay tuned for that.)

If you are considering a run, here are the deadlines you need to know:

Of course, elected positions aren’t the only game in town. There are committees that currently have vacancies.

Updated (2/14/16 2:46 pm): Inserted the 1 year term seat for Board of Library Trustees, originally omitted from my list.
