Youth Wrestling spring clinics are about to begin for 4th-8th graders. The program is run by many of the same people involved in six Algonquin wrestlers heading to All States this weekend.
The clinic is coached by Algonquin head coach, Brian Kramer and Assistant Coach James Gray and many of the varsity wrestlers volunteer to help as well.
I’m told that four of the team’s top wrestlers came up through the program.* But this doesn’t have to be the start of a career. The instructional clinics are just a great opportunity to try a new sport.
Sessions will be held in the ARHS Wrestling room from 6:30-8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 8th through April 14th.
The cost of the clinic is $75. All proceeds benefit the Algonquin Varsity program. (Uniform costs, specialized equipment, and JV tournament costs all rely on these funds.)
One supporter of the program points out that athletes’ success can be both individual and team driven. She writes “I can’t say enough about the confidence, determination and sportsmanship these young men learn while wrestling.”
