Another alleged thief was quickly apprehended after a home burglary.
According to police, the suspect tried to flee Marlborough police after they signaled him to pull him over for a traffic offense.
After he was stopped, the driver purportedly fessed up that he thought he was being chased down for a burglary he had just committed in Southborough!
He was charged with a B&E, that was more E than B. The house was reported unlocked. Which is why, Southborough Police are sharing another reminder on securing homes, and other crime prevention tips. (Click thumbnails to enlarge.)

Monday, March 7, 2016:
- 0859 hrs – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
- 1016 hrs – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Pine Hill Road residence.
- 1044 hrs – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Beechwood Lane residence.
- 1443 hrs – An employee of a Northboro Road business reported being the victim of a telephone scam. The detective unit is currently investigating this incident.
- 1636 hrs – The owner of a Main Street residence reported past vandalism done to the front door of the residence. A report was filed at the police station.
- 1720 hrs – An officer investigated a report of a suspicious motor vehicle parked in front of a Turnpike Road business.
- 1804 hrs – Marlborough Police requested Southborough Police to respond to their town, after stopping a motor vehicle that had just entered their town from Southborough. The Marlborough officer on scene learned from the driver, that he had just committed a burglary in the town of Southborough. Through an investigation by both Marlborough and Southborough Police, the home that was broken into was found to be a residence on Framingham Road. The unlocked home was entered, and several items were taken from inside the residence. The suspect, a Worcester man was charged with B&E to a Building in the Daytime With Intent to Commit a Felony and Larceny Over $250.
- 2035 hrs – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
Tuesday, March 8, 2016:
- 0031 hrs – Officers conducted a requested well-being check at a Cordaville road residence.
- 0052 hrs – Officers responded to Owen O’Learys on Turnpike Road to investigate a report of an out-of-control customer. The customer made several threats against employees, and then left the restaurant in his own vehicle. The customer was later identified, and a No Trespass order was issued against him.
- 0508 hrs – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
- 0848 hrs – An officer investigated a truancy issue at a High Street residence.
- 1155 hrs – A Turnpike Road business reported an attempted Fraud by Check at the business. The responding officer took a report on the incident.
- 1422 hrs – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 1704 hrs – An officer took a report of missing mail from a Presidential Driver resident.
- 1739 hrs – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 2020 hrs – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Cordaville Road.
- 2252 hrs – An officer took a report of harassing phone calls from a resident of Pine Hill Road.
- 2303 hrs – A resident of Clifford Road reported finding two television sets left behind their garage. The responding officer took a report on the incident.
Wednesday, March 9, 2016:
- 0212 hrs – A medical was reported at a Parkerville Road residence.
- 0610 hrs – A medical was reported at a Parkerville Road residence.
- 0823 hrs – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Pine Hill Road residence.
- 0835 hrs – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Cordaville Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 1007 hrs – An officer took a report of a harassing phone call at a Cordaville Road residence.
- 1024 hrs – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. Injuries were reported to have occurred from the accident.
- 1247 hrs – Officers investigated a report of a suspicious motor vehicle on Barn Lane. The vehicle was no longer in the area when the officers arrived on scene.
- 1502 hrs – An officer responded with the Fire Department to a Pearl Street residence to investigate a report of a brush fire.
Thursday, March 10, 2016:
- 0754 hrs – Officers investigated a one car, motor vehicle accident on Breakneck Hill Road. Injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 1256 hrs – An officer investigated a report of suspicious activity at a Main Street business.
- 1707 hrs – A medical was reported at a North Street residence.
- 1710 hrs – A medical was reported at a Woodland Road residence.
- 1724 hrs – Officers investigated a one car, motor vehicle accident on Southville Road. After an investigation of the accident, the operator, a Southborough man; was charged with OUI Alcohol and Operating to Endanger.
Friday, March 11, 2016:
- 0221 hrs – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Boston Road business.
- 0827 hrs – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Sadie Hutt Lane residence.
- 0904 hrs – An officer assisted with a civil complaint at a Turnpike Road business.
- 0922 hrs – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Darlene Drive residence.
- 1248 hrs – An officer investigated a traffic complaint on River Street.
- 1507 hrs – An officer investigated a suspicious motor vehicle complaint at a Cordaville Road residence. The vehicle left the area prior to the officer arriving on scene.
- 1539 hrs – ARRESTED: A Rutland man was placed under arrest after a warrant check revealed that he had an active arrest warrant out of Westborough District Court.
- 1708 hrs – Officers investigated an accidental 911 call from the St. Mark’s School on Marlboro Road.
- 1905 hrs – Officers investigated a one car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 2340 hrs – A motorist from Marlborough, MA was issued a Criminal Application for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Registration and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
Saturday, March 12, 2016:
- 1028 hrs – Officers investigated a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 1320 hrs – Officers investigated a parking complaint on Southville Road.
- 1340 hrs – An officer assisted with a civil issue at a Cordaville Road business.
- 1404 hrs – Officers investigated a report of a loud boom in the area of Ledge Hill Road. No source of the noise was located at this time.
- 1607 hrs – Officers investigated a report of a two car, motor vehicle accident on Turnpike Road. No injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.
- 2155 hrs – A medical was reported at a Middle Road residence.
- 2230 hrs – Officers investigated a report of an erratic operator in the area of Marlboro Road. Marlborough Police were notified of the report.
Sunday, March 13, 2016:
- 0806 hrs – A medical was reported at Stub Toe Lane residence.
- 1541 hrs – A medical was reported at a Pinecone Lane residence.
- 1634 hrs – Officers investigated a traffic complaint on River Street.
