This Saturday, Southborough postal carriers are once again taking part in the nation’s largest single-day food drive.
Items collected in Southborough as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger event will go directly to the Southborough Food Pantry.
You can help by leaving a bag containing non-perishable (and not-expired) foods next to your mailbox prior to your normal mail delivery on Saturday, May 14.
Local letter carriers will collect the donations as they deliver the mail and take them to the Southborough Food Pantry at Pilgrim Church.
Your donations will help residents of Southborough who are struggling to put food on their tables every day.
The pantry informs me that they are all set with pasta and soup. But there are a lot of other items they need help with:
- Spaghetti Sauce
- Tomato Sauce
- Near East Rice Pilaf
- Instant White Rice
- Boxed Potato Mixes
- Canned Potatoes
- Mayonnaise
- Individual Snacks
- Corned Beef Hash
- Maple Syrup
- Chicken Flavored Ramen Noodles
- Apple Sauce
- Canned Pineapple
- Kleenex
They could also use detergent, dish soap, paper towels and cleaning supplies.
