New Town Planner (hopefully) starting soon

On Monday night, the Planning Board inteviewed a finalist for the Town Planner position. According to Southborough Wicked Local, she passed muster with the board. Jyothi Grama of Westborough was unanimously offered the position.

SWL writes:

[Grama] worked for the city of Austin, Texas, from 1992 to 2005 in urban and environmental planning. She has been a board member with Habitat for Humanity locally since 2008.
As an empty-nester, Grama said she’s ready to get back to work. . .

She was interviewed multiple times with a screening committee that included two Planning Board members, Selectman Paul Cimino, Assistant Town Administrator Vanessa Hale and Public Works Superintendent Karen Galligan. She has also met with other town officials, including Town Administrator Mark Purple.

Pending contract negotiations, Grama will fill the vacancy open since Jennifer Burney left in January. Chair Don Morris hopes to get her to work as soon as possible.
