In late August, I took a week off for family time. But a pressing vote on Park Central pulled me back in. Unfortunately, I made a big typo* in my rush to get the post up.
My story shared that Selectwoman Bonnie Phaneuf pushed for a Left Turn Only from Park Central to Flagg Road.
If that was true, it woud mean she wanted to push all traffic from 180 condos and 139 townhouses down a narrow, winding, residential back road!
In fact, Phaneuf pushed to prohibit left turns out of Park Central, towards the residential back road. She wanted to direct all traffic towards Route 9 instead.
A reader pointed out my error by email – but I was off, and my inbox was flooded when I returned. So, I just read the message.
The rest of the board indicated the “no left turn” is a possibility they will consider. But they opted to wait for further review and discussion before deciding what makes sense. They have since scheduled a forum on Flagg Road safety for Monday, September 12, 6:30 pm at the Senior Center (9 Cordaville Road).
Normally, I just add an update to the story. But it’s unlikely readers would see that at this late date. So, my apologies to Ms. Phaneuf for inadvertently making her seem like an super villain!
*(It’s not precisely a typo. But I knew what I wanted to write, and it’s not what I wrote!)
Beth,
This note of correction provides a good opportunity for this frequent reader / first-time commenter to thank you and your predecessor for providing a truly worthwhile service to our fellow residents. In my estimation, you do it with grace, objectivity and dedication.
Thank you!
