Last week, the finalist for new Principal of Algonquin Regional High School was named. Last night, the administration confirmed the choice, Sara Pragluski Walsh, Ed.D. Dr. Walsh will replace Principal Tom Mead when he retires at the end of this month.
The community was given a chance to meet Dr. Walsh when she visited the school last Friday. It’s an opportunity that local media took advantage of. You can read Southborough Wicked Local’s coverage here.
Below is the message Superintendent Christine Johnson’s message to district parents yesterday:
I am privileged to announce that Sara Pragluski Walsh, Ed.D has accepted the position of Principal at Algonquin Regional High School. This appointment is the culmination of an extensive search and interview process. Dr. Walsh currently serves as Principal of the Springfield High School of Science and Technology (HSST). Her excellence in teaching and learning is supported by her interest in the sciences as evidenced by her experiences and expertise in the areas of mathematics and biology. She has pursued both professional and experiential leadership in her role as Principal, Associate Principal and Assistant Principal for the Springfield Public Schools.
Dr. Walsh holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Supervision from American International College, and a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology from University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is a licensed educator in mathematics and biology.
Members of the Search Committee conducted a site visit to her school and parents, administrators, students, teachers and members of our school community participated in her site visit to Algonquin on Friday, June 2, 2017. Dr. Walsh is described as a leader who sets the bar high for herself, her students and her educational team. She is an exceptional leader who is committed to inspiring others to reach beyond their own expectations. She is described as a collaborative leader and an outstanding communicator.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Walsh as Principal of Algonquin Regional High School effective July 1, 2017. Plans to transition to her new role are underway and she will be involved in the hiring process for the Assistant Principal. Parents and school community members are invited to participate in an informal meet and greet with Dr. Walsh on June 20, 2017 at Algonquin Regional High school from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
