Earlier this summer, I shared news about the achievements of high school students and grads. What I’m overdue in sharing is accomplishments of college and academy students that hail from Southborough.
The Community Advocate profiled three Southborough residents and two universities shared news about their accomplished students.
ARHS grad plying craft in New England College Baseball League this summer – Community Advocate:
Southborough native Ryan Solomon could take time off from baseball in the summer if he wished, but he is not interested in doing that.
Solomon, who graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 2015 and was named to ESPN Boston’s All-State team his senior year, is now a rising junior on the Division 1 Northeastern Huskies baseball team. Instead of taking a break from the baseball this summer, he is playing for the Mystic Schooners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). (read more)
Southborough native keeps grinding in Futures League – Community Advocate:
His college baseball season might be over, but Matt Trehub has plenty of baseball left in him this year.
The Southborough native and rising sophomore at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va., is continuing to improve his game as a member of the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League this summer. (read more)
Southborough man graduates from the Coast Guard Academy– Community Advocate:
Frederick M. Scott V (Rick) graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on May 17 with a Bachelor of Science degree in government with a concentration in public policy and law, and a commission as an ensign in the United States Coast Guard. Scott is now assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba WMEC 907 as a deck watch officer in Boston. (read more)
Southborough Resident Wins Academic Award From Worcester State University – Worcester State University:
Tadas Buivydas of Southborough, Mass., has received the Dr. Maureen and Edward Shamgochian Award in Chemistry from Worcester State University. Buivydas was honored in April at the 2017 Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. (read more)
Franklin Pierce Announces Recipients of the 15th Annual Fitzwater Center Honors – Franklin Pierce University:
Alyssa Borelli ’15, MBA ’17 [was] awarded the Fitzwater Medallion for contributions to the Public Discourse, by a Graduating Student. . .
[Borelli] was integrally involved in the Fitzwater Center during her time as an undergraduate student at Franklin Pierce, working her way up the ranks of The Pierce Arrow’s editorial board, serving as a contributing reporter, features editor and then managing editor. She also co-founded a nine-person marketing team, Four Corners Marketing On-Campus. (read more)*
