Tomorrow is the last day to register for Southborough Recreation’s day trip the US Open. In case you missed my initial post (the week of July 4th), I thought I should remind folks.

The bus trip is scheduled for Thursday, August 31st. (Parents of school aged kids should note – that is the second day of public school in Southborough.)

Southborough Rec day trip to US Tennis Open flyerThe Rec Dept promotes:

Come see the top men and women players from around the world compete for the 2017 US Open Grand Slam title. The US Open is the final and most exciting Grand Slam of the year. Arthur Ashe Stadium and its capacity of nearly 23,000 possess the energy and electricity akin to the Super Bowl.

August 29, 2016 - Fans walk the grounds during the 2016 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. (from US Open website)You can walk the grounds and see some of the top players play on the outer courts. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and interactive booths for the whole family to enjoy. You will be on your own to immerse yourself in a day of tournament play! There will be a brief stop at the halfway point both to and from New York for coffee, snacks and a restroom break.

The trip is $55 per person, but it only covers the transportation. You will still need to purchase tickets to access the grounds (Billie Jean King National Tennis Center) or the stadium.

August 31, 2016 - Andreas Seppi in action against Rafael Nadal during the 2016 US Open in the Author Ashe Stadium. (from US Open website)The bus is set to depart at 6:00 am and return by midnight. That is expected to get passengers to the grounds by 10:00 am. Departure is set for about 7:45 pm.

As of this afternoon, 11:00 am grounds admission on August 31st was starting at $65. That gets you unlimited access to the outer courts. For access to the bigger stadiums, you would need a stadium ticket. At this point, the cheapest stadium tickets on that day appear to be for Author Ashe Stadium, starting at $79.
