Oompa loompa doompety doo. I’ve got a perfect puzzle for you.
If you have a love of whimsy, this year’s school play is sure to give glee. . .
Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to join the cast of this year’s Neary School Theater program – Willy Wonka Jr.:
Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder in addition to a host of fun new songs. Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.
The Town has again outsourced the production to Skyrise Children’s Theater.
The production is run as an after school recreation program. That means there is a registration fee. It also means every child is assigned a part (through an audition process.)
The program is a “full time commitment and attendance is mandatory for all performances and rehearsals” from October through early February
To allow children to decide if the program is for them – and to prepare for auditions – a preview day is offered. It will be held in the Neary Gym next Wednesday, September 13, from 2:30 – 3:30 pm. Children will learn about the program and get a run through of songs and dances to rehearse for the big auditions.
Due to the popularity of the program, it will again be split into two casts. Each cast meets weekly on Wednesday or Friday. There are also few occasional rehearsals on other dates – so be sure to check the schedule.
Casts each perform two public shows during the last week of February. (Performance tickets are sold separately.)
Registration is open until September 22nd. But it’s a popular program and capped at 50 students per cast. So don’t hold off signing up!
