This afternoon, candidate David Parry announced that he is withdrawing from race for the Board of Selectmen. That narrows the field to four candidates in this November’s Special Election.
Parry posted a comment on the blog which seemed to endorse candidate Brian Shifrin. In addition to Shifrin, that still leaves in the running Bill Boland, Doriann Jasinski, and Sam Stivers.
Parry’s comment, posted just after noon, stated:
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard, just last week, that Brian Shifrin would run for Selectmen. I told him 6 months ago, (when we were working on separate committees, but on the same issue — the golf course purchase), that he would make an excellent Selectmen and should consider running. The surprise was how fast he moved, and good for him. So I am happy to withdraw.
I will continue to be actively involved, but focus on issues which I feel are most important.
The remaining four candidates still have until October 5th to withdraw their names from the ballot.
On November 1st, the Southborough Library will host a Candidate’s Night. As is tradition, public will also have a chance to meet the candidates during a short reception. Then candidates will be asked to read a statement and answer questions from a moderator and the public. Stay tuned for more details.

[Note to candidates: As I previously posted, each of you are invited to submit one letter to the editor between now and October 31st. You can email your letter and photo to mysouthborough@gmail.com]
Thought Mr. parry had a chance to reclaim a seat this time. Hopefully the remaining candidates with stay in the race.
