SWL: Possible Bank Robbery at Middlesex Savings

Local media has posted news of an unconfirmed robbery at Middlesex Savings Bank this afternoon.

A reader informed me of multiple police cars, including state troopers at the Town Center Plaza on Cordaville Road earlier. Southborough Police haven’t yet respond to an inquiry. But Southborough Wicked Local shared information from police scanners and spoke to neighbors of the bank:

State and local police are on the scene of a possible bank robbery at Middlesex Savings Bank off Cordaville Road.

Police scanner reports indicated a robbery just before 3 p.m., and describe the suspect as a white male in dark jeans and sunglasses. . .

A police dog and two officers, one carrying an assault rifle, returned to the bank from an adjacent parking lot shortly after 3 p.m. without a suspect.

State Police left the scene at that time.

A notice on the bank door said the branch is temporarily closed, and redirected visitors to its Hopkinton and Ashland locations.

What do The Southboro Police have against using reverse 911 to warn residents living in the general area of today’s Bank Robbery, so we could be vigilant and alert for a fleeing, maybe armed bank robber? We live about a half mile from the Town Center plaza, and shortly after the robbery my wife left to walk our dog in the Breakneck Hill Conservation area, and I was outside raking leaves. We would not have panicked but would have done things differently had we known. SPD also refused to warn us residents several months ago when that Bear was sighted numerous times, also in this general part of town. After prodding, they did eventually submit an article to this blog.
