This week, you have the chance to attend musicals at both ARHS and AVRTHS. One has a theme that seems timely this fall. And one is themed appropriately for the Christmas season.
Legally Blonde by ARHS Theater
Algonquin Regional High School, auditorium, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough
Official Plot: A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and expolding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!
Performances: Thursday, November 30th – Saturday, December 2nd at 7:00 pm
Tickets: $10/student, $15/adult, available for advance purchase online.
Elf the Musical by AV Players
Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, 215 Fitchburg St, Marlborough
Official Plot: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.
With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Performances: Friday, December 1st and Saturday December 2nd at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 3rd at 11:00 am
Tickets: $3 per student/child/senior and $5 per adult
Updated (11/30/17 9:39 am): Assabet had the wrong times posted in their Facebook events for Elf. I should have noticed that the times on the poster are different – and correct as confirmed by a comment from a reader in the know!
The times listed for Elf at Assabet are incorrect. The correct times are Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 11 am. Our Boy Scout troop has boys in both plays, and I have heard they are both very funny, so check them out if you can.
Thank you for knowing and noticing! I originally had the correct times in my calendar. But then I found the 1pm times in Facebook events on the official Assabet Facebook page and assumed I was wrong. I neglected to notice that the poster image I found on twitter (and shared within the post) had different times listed on the bottom.
(That’s probably where I got the times from originally, but I couldn’t remember the source.)
I just contacted the school. Hopefully, they’ll also update their Facebook events.
