Seniors invited to snowshoeing, hiking and candlepin bowling

The Trailblazers have organized more events for active seniors this winter. Not surprisingly, they’ll be leading some snowshoeing/winter hikes on trails. (Given the forecast, it certainly looks like we’ll have enough snow on the ground to break out the snowshoes.)

But for those who can’t bear this winter’s brutal cold, the group will also meet indoors twice this month. Seniors are invited to join them for candlepin bowling at Sawyer’s Bowladrome in Northborough. (That’s bowling with the little balls.) That takes place on Wednesdays, January 17th and 31st:

Carpool from Senior Center. Meet at 12:30pm. Suggested Donation is $5 for 3 games, no cost for bowling shoes.

Carpooling is also offered for the outdoor events. On Thursdays, January 11th and February 8th, carpoolers will meet at 1:00 pm in the Senior Center parking lot. And on Mondays, January 22nd and February 26th, the group will meet at 9:30 am.

The center has limited snowshoes to lend out for the events (2 women’s and 2 men’s). To find out if any are still available or sign up for any of the activities, call the front desk at 508-229-4453. For more details on hike locations, click on the flyer right.

[Editor’s Note: In the past, I’ve shared info on where people can rent snowshoes locally. I sought to do that again this year, but it looks like the past options are no longer available. If anyone has info on snowshoe rentals, please share in the comments below. (Or, if you prefer, email me at mysouthborough@gmail.com.)]
