The Southborough Gardeners are promoting their annual scholarship program. Applications are due Friday, April 16. This year, they are also promoting more opportunities open through a state garden club.

Take note if a student you know is currently studying, or planning to major in any of the following Arts or Sciences related to:

  • Horticulture
  • Floral Design
  • Environmental Studies
  • Ecology
  • Conservation
  • Agriculture
  • Botany
  • Landscape Architecture/Design
  • other related fields

The town-based club is offering $1,000 in assistance that could be dedicated to one student or split between two qualified.

Southborough Gardeners is a member of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. The state club is offering 11 additional scholarships. Students can apply for all of those opportunities by submitting one application.

GCFM’s website advertises scholarships for fields of study that overlap with SG’s but seem to cover a bit more, including City Planning:

  • Horticulture
  • Floriculture
  • Landscape Design or Architecture
  • Conservation
  • Forestry, Agronomy
  • City Planning
  • Environmental Studies
  • Land Management
  • Botany
  • Biology
  • and allied subjects

For the local opportunity, here is the SG’s announcement:
