Southborough Wicked Local writes that selectmen approved the official name change to the Town owned golf course. The board approved the Golf Course Committee’s recommendation hearkening back to course roots – Southborough Golf Club.
SWL writes:
The new name passed with little discussion at the selectmen’s meeting last Thursday night.
“I appreciate the all the work by the Golf Course Committee,” said selectmen Chairman Dan Kolenda. “I love the historical aspect, and it has a good ring to it.”
The parcel was originally named Southborough Golf Club prior to being donated to St. Mark’s School in 1923.
Before selectmen’s vote, the course’s name was St. Mark’s Golf Club but most people referred to it as St. Mark’s Golf Course. I wonder how long it will take for that to change.
(A lot of Townies still refer to Mauro’s Cafe as “the Spa”.)
