Another week, another excuse to eat out! Next Thursday, the community is invited to take part in a restaurant fundraiser for the SOS:
The Southborough Organization for Schools (SOS) is hosting a Dining for Dollars Fundraiser on Thursday, April 12th at Bertucci’s of Westborough, 160 Turnpike Rd. Grab lunch or dinner at Bertucci’s in Westborough and 25% of your order will be donated to SOS.
Just print or show this flyer digitally so that your order can be counted.
This promotion is good for dine in or carry out orders.
Enjoy a delicious meal and help raise money for SOS!
The restaurant is open from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm. You can check out their menu here. Click here to open the printable flyer.
with so much of our tax money going to what they call schools, why are they still begging for money? stop it, enough is enough. southborough has no benefits, only increasing tax bills.
I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that I disagree.
There are some fundraisers I won’t specify that I object to as pressuring families to participate. There are others that I love because they are also a form of entertainment for families and a community event.
This is just a no big deal to me. People do it or don’t. For those that do, a few extra bucks for the fund mean more things that the schools can fund without using the budgets. That should allow kids to do more (like field trips) while burdening taxpayers less.
And if you feel that doesn’t trickle down to taxpayer savings, then I’d direct that question to the people who control the school budgets – not the volunteer parents just looking to support their kids’ schools.
I had no idea that a voluntary private fundraiser could possibly be controversial. Don’t like to support education in this way? Don’t participate!
But thanks, Mike, for trolling this. Now I’m definitely going to Bertucci’s for lunch on Thursday, April 12.
You sound like you’re really unhappy in Southborough…maybe it’s time to move where you can be happier. How angry a person does one have to be to rail against a volunteer fundraiser that is as simple as asking willing people to eat at Bertucci’s, which will then give 25% of the cost back to the community?
(Answer: Pretty darn angry.)
And what a coherent argument:
“Southborough schools are garbage! Oh…and more money to improve those garbage schools is even worse!”
Must be that 1950s math…
Mike – I think you live rent free in several SB residents’ minds – keep rattling their chains.
Pizza 19 for dinner it is.
It was my understanding that the school staff is not supposed to fund raise for things that are supposed to come out of the budget, like Osmo that Neary has been fundraising for. I am not sure of the legalities of that but I think as one point we were told by the Superintendent’s Office that it was not supposed to be done.
I firmly believe that you take part in the ones that you want to. If you don’t want to, don’t.
Nothing like a 3rd grade comment for a high school fundraiser. Sure, let’s boycott Bertucci’s that night…god forbid someone tries to do something nice and give back to the community. I really don’t understand grumpy old men. I do, however, feel very sorry for them.
