Videos: Arts & Entertainment events this spring

I’m behind on sharing videos of events that took place in town or at the high school this spring. There are too many to share in one post. So, I’m breaking them up by topic/theme.

This series of videos focus on arts, music, and entertainment presentations. They include a jazz concert, sketch comedy, celtic foods, art and flowers, and an author talk. All but one have some connection to the Southborough schools.

April 26, 2018 – The author of Mr. Clark’s Big Band: A Year of Laughter, Tears, and Jazz in a Middle School Band Room spoke about her book and her experience writing it. The book chronicles her year shadowing the Trottier Jazz Band.

(It’s worth noting that “Mr. Clark” from the above event opens the event in the video below, conducting this year’s Trottier Jazz Band. While the students she wrote about have since graduated out of his program – and many of them from high school – some of them probably performed in the Algonquin Jazz Band portion of the concert.)

February 27, 2018 – Algonquin’s Jazz Bands and Jazz Chorus, plus the jazz bands from Melican and Trottier middle schools, performed with guest artist, jazz saxophonist Mark Zaleski.

March 17, 2018 – Chocolatier Kim Larkin spoke to patrons about famous Irish foods, the history of chocolate in Ireland, Irish chocolate pioneers, Irish lore, & Irish poetry.
