The Northborough Police have issued a press release. It appears that a stir was caused by a Northborough teen on Snapchat.
The NPD investigated and found the gun toted in the shot was an Airsoft pellet rifle. (You can read about those here.) They report that there was no crime or threat:
Early last night the Northborough Police Department was made aware of a Snapchat image sent by a Northborough teen. The image is an individual holding what appeared to be an AR type weapon. Detectives worked this investigation into the early morning hours today. All individuals associated with the video have been interviewed, their parents have been involved and taken appropriate action. The weapon was located and positively confirmed as being an Airsoft pellet rifle. At the conclusion of this investigation we have determined that there was no threat made to any school nor was any crime committed. There is no connection to any prior incident and or report currently under investigation at Algonquin.

This was the third public incident within the last 48 hours that police have had to investigate related to worries about a potential school shooting threat in our district.
