After two years of being cordoned off, without any hooplah, Fayville playground’s fence was taken down on Friday.
There are a few remaining touches to be done and a Grand Opening still to come. But that isn’t stopping families from already enjoying the new equipment. I stumbled upon it the same way many others did over the weekend, by driving by. Some also learned about in on social media or word of mouth.
Recreation made their big announcement this morning:
The Southborough Recreation Commission is excited to announce the official opening of the Harold E. Fay Memorial Playground. Through the hard work and dedication of the Southborough Public Works Department, the playground is open to the public. The Grand Opening Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 10:00 am to recognize all those who contributed to this project. Please join us for a fun, family-friendly event with music, face painting and more.
Our 2-5 aged area features custom sculptured themes made by Themed Concepts. The 5-12 aged area has a large Meteor Climber, double Oval Swings, and a large play structure. The playground design was done by New England Recreation Group. The next phase of the project, which features a new, full-sized basketball court, will begin in the fall.
Because of the beautiful waterfront view, large gathering gazebo, and its central location, our playground is a wonderful place that all families will enjoy.
The Recreation Commission, Recreation Department and Southborough DPW thank you for your support and hope you enjoy the new playground. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Grand Opening on August 18!
Here are a few pics I snapped of kids enjoying the completely rehauled play area.
