Enio G. Cipriano, Jr, 89, of Southborough passed away at his home with family around him on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Bonazzolli) Cipriano for the past 67 years.
Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Geneva and Enio G. Cipriano, Sr.
Mr. Cipriano was a graduate of Marlborough High School in 1946 and Worcester Jr. College in 1948.
He was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, training in San Antonio, Texas and assigned to Mitchell Field, Long Island as part of the First U.S. Air Force Band which modeled the U.S. Air Force Blues Uniform. While in the Air Force, he attended Hofsta University on Long Island. While traveling with the Band, he was on television shows in the early 50s including the Milton Berle Show. He befriended Guy Lombardo, the leader of the Royal Canadians Orchestra who had a home on Long Island both having the name Gaetano.
Mr. Cipriano was a Marlborough City Councilor in 1958 elected to serve as Ward Councilor for Ward I and was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Peoples National Bank in the 1960s and 1970s.
For many years, Mr. Cipriano was the General Manager of G. Bonazzoli Construction in Hudson, and later Hudson GMC Truck.
Mr. Cipriano was passionate as to his involvement with the Marlborough Foundation at the Marlborough Country Club and the Italian American War Veteran’s Association ITAM where he was a past Commander at Post 45 in Marlborough. He was also a former State and National Commander.
He received the prestigious Veteran’s Recognition Award for service during the Korean conflict from Boston’s Historic First Corp. of Cadets.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Aldo A. Cipriano, Esq. and his wife, Debra; a daughter Kim A. Maxwell of Shrewsbury; his grandchildren, Allison and Kristen Cipriano of Southborough; Eric Maxwell of New York and Marissa Maxwell of Shrewsbury; his brother, Robert Cipriano of Marlborough.
He is predeceased by his sister, Gloria Phaneuf.
All services are private. Burial will be in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Pirandello Lyceum, Box 565, East Boston, MA 02128, a cultural Italian organization.
A day of remembrance will be scheduled in the future.
