Registration is now open for the fall session of after school programs. I love that Recreation always offers a wide range of choices. This time around, they run from A to T (Archery to “TWINE”).
This first session of RAP (Recreation After-school Programs) is a mix of fun active, creative, and educational classes. Most of them will begin the week of September 17th, with Wednesday classes pushed out an extra week. (Remember, Wednesday, September 19th is Yom Kippur.)**
If you’re new to RAP this year – the programs take place directly after school – usually at the school. After the course ends (usually about 1 to 1 ½ hrs) students must be picked up at the school (or head over to their extended day programs).
There are some exceptions. Several of Trottier’s programs are down the hill at Neary School. And Neary and Trottier Pottery students will be transported to the Recreation/Arts Center building at 21 Highland Street.
Choices include sports, gym games, robotics, creative writing, chess, arts & crafts, acting, and making/decorating desserts. There’s also fun with math, STEM, and ever-popular slime.
Not on the Neary RAP flyer, but also coming this fall is Neary’s popular theater program. Stay tuned for another post on that. (Or check out details here.)
The programs are offered by and through the Rec Department.
Registration for most RAPs are currently listed as due by September 4th. (That is sometimes extended – especially for the programs starting later. But programs can also fill up in advance – or get cancelled if not enough register by that date. So, I recommend signing up soon.)
But you’ll need to sign up by this Friday to join Trottier’s Cross Country program. Although listed as part of Trottier’s RAP, it also has its own special flyer with more details (here). Practices begin this coming Wednesday. As of this morning, there are still several slots open. You can register for XC here.

*Updated (8/30/18 10:31 am): Originally, I referred to the 19th as a K-8 half day. It’s actually Yom Kippur – so no school. (Thursday, September 13th is the K-8 half day.)
