Southborough seniors are invited to hike again this spring with the Trailblazers. (No real trail blazing will be necessary, since these are all established hiking grounds.)
The active senior group has announced its next round of “adventures” for active seniors this September and October:
The following events are open to all seniors, and half are for free. For each, meet at the Southborough Senior Center to carpool at the time listed below:
- Bay Circuit Trail Hike (Thursday, September 13 – carpool meets 1:00 pm @ Senior Center) Hike the next North Section of the trail – about 2 miles. (No fee.)
- Halibut Point State Park in Rockport (Wednesday, September 26 – bus from and to Senior Center 8:00 am to about 3:00 pm) Explore the park trails, tide pools, granite quarries, wildlife, and beautiful vegetation at the beautiful coastal seascape. The trip will begin with a presentation by a Park interpreter, followed by a self guided walking tour of Babson Farm Quarry. Higher difficulty hike – Some trails are rocky and there are areas of elevation. A picnic lunch will be included. Suggested donation: $15. (See flyer right for more details)
- Bay Circuit Trail Hike (Thursday, October 11 – carpool meets 1:00 pm @ Senior Center) Hike the next South Section of the trail – about 2 miles. (No fee.)
- Mass Central Rail Trail Hike (Wednesday, October 17 – carpool meets 9:30 am @ Senior Center) Well maintained wooded rail trail about 3-4 miles from West Boylston. (Please wear appropriate shoes and long pants, and bring bug repellent.) Moderate difficulty hike. Water and energy bars will be provided. Lunch will be on our own at a local restaurant.
