Obituary: Janet Clare Capodilupo, 74

Janet Clare Capodilupo of Chatham [formerly of Southborough], after waging a valiant battle with brain cancer, entered eternal rest Friday, October 12, in the company of her family. She was the beloved wife for fifty years of Lawrence P. (Larry) Capodilupo, Jr.

While raising her family in Southboro, MA, Jan earned her Master’s in Computer Science, and went on to chair the Computer Department of the Fay School in Southboro.

Friends and family alike attest to Jan’s natural gift of gentle guidance which shone through in her roles as Past President and Treasurer of the League Club of Cape Cod, as Chair of the Flower Committee and member of the House Committee at Eastward Ho!, in her membership in the Chatham Garden Club, and as a member of the board of the Nauset Garden Club. An enthusiastic golfer, Jan enjoyed many rounds as a member of Cape Cod National Golf Club. She expressed her artistic talents as an accomplished painter in oils, and mastered the art of Nantucket basket weaving. Always the gracious hostess, Jan took great joy in being surrounded by family, welcoming groups large and small to her home to share meals and laughter.

In addition to her husband, Jan is survived by her son Lawrence P. (Larry) Capodilupo III and his wife Kristen (Sylva) of Needham and Chatham and their four children Dylan, Maya, Olivia and Nora, by her sister Meredith Mitchell Smith and her husband Joe of Riverside, CT and Chatham, and by her sisters-in-law Ann Trull and her husband Dick of Centerville and Diane Taylor and her husband Toby of Sonoma, CA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
