Southborough will be hosting youth volleyball in January for girls in grades 3-8. It’s part of a national campaign by The MetroWest Youth Volleyball Association to enhance the development, teaching and play of youth volleyball.

Southborough Rec posts that Sunday evening games will be in Sudbury, but practices are in town. Sorry, not practices, “skill sessions”. The flyer describes:

Each town will have one weekly skills session taught by a qualified volleyball coach. Participants in the skills sessions will then have an opportunity to play against other towns during games on Sundays. Teams are created by demand and if a town does not have enough participants, players will be placed with neighboring towns. The purpose of this program is to promote the development of youth volleyball, by creating quality programs in town and providing an alternative to club volleyball. Each player will be provided a jersey and a player evaluation at the end of the season.

Southborough’s skill sessions will be Thursdays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in the Woodward School gym. The season runs from January 10 to March 3.
