Over a month ago, the position for Southborough Fire Chief was reposted. The recruitment committee has reached out with an update for the public.
According to the announcement, 18 additional applications were submitted. The result is that between the first round and new applicants, four candidates are headed to the Assessment Center.
In earlier discussions, selectmen hoped to be able to interview and select a finalist before Town Meeting. It sounds like they are on track.

The Fire Chief Search Committee wanted to provide a brief update on our search for the Town of Southborough’s next Fire Chief. The second application period closed on February 8th. We received sixteen new applicants that were not reviewed in the first round. Of these applicants, four were offered interviews last Thursday and the Committee has voted to advance two more to the Assessment Center.
After the completion of both application periods, we have four very strong candidates that will participate in an Assessment Center in early March. Of these candidates, two or three will be chosen by the Fire Chief Search Committee to appear as finalists for interviews with the Board of Selectmen. These interviews will take place by mid-March.
