Anglophiles Assemble! If you love British dramas, the Library welcomes you to share that love.
The Southborough Library is organizing a discussion series that revolves around BBC television series:
Downton Abbey, Victoria, The Crown, Call The Midwife, Foyle’s War ….for those of you who have thoroughly enjoyed these and other wildly popular BBC productions, come join us for exciting discussions of these series that have gripped the attention of an international audience.
The historical backdrop of the series will be part of the lively discussions of how these productions have provided a window into the lives of the ‘commoner’ to the crowned heads of each era. The historical backdrop of Victorian and Edwardian Britain, as well as the post WWI and II period characterized by upheaval, tragedy and the fallout both personal and national will be an essential part of the discussions. Be ready to even dress up as 1 or more of your favorite characters if you wish!
The gatherings will be held this summer at 7:00 pm on Thursday evenings, bi-weekly from June 13 to August 22nd. Meetings are in the downstairs Eaton Meeting Room.
If others’ passionate fandom prompts you to want to check out a series you missed, be sure to check out the Library’s DVD collection upstairs. And if they don’t have what you need on the shelf, ask at the desk. They can likely reserve it or request it through interlibrary loan.
