Last week, ARHS Boys and Girls Tennis both competed in the State Finals. That’s where the high school’s postseason journeys came to an end.
On Wednesday, previously undefeated Girls Tennis fell to Acton-Boxborough 4-1. One of the disappointments of the competition was a mid match injury.
Freshman Olivia Almy went up against the player that she lost the State Semi-Finals to the previous weekend, Ashleigh Parlman. According to Wicked Local, she lost the first match 4-6, won the second 7-5, then was “forced to retire with a calf injury”. You can read their coverage of the Finals here.
The Boys had been scheduled to play in their Finals Thursday. It looks like the forecast moved that up to follow the Girls’ game on Wednesday.
As I previously indicated, their bid was a longshot given that they were already trounced by undefeated Brookline this spring. ARHS fell to Brookline again 0-5.
According to Wicked Local, Wednesday was the first time the Boys made it to the State Finals since their 2006 win. You can read their coverage here.
Below are tweeted photos of the Girls and Boys Finals from ARHS Athletics Department. They also tweeted pics from the Algonquin Boosters’ Golf Tournament this week:
